Sense Appeal and Improvisation Workshops

These training formats offers a context for professionals and curious dancers alike to practice relational self-guidance. It is based on an improvisational approach to sense-reflection, mind integration and navigating the unknown in relation to others.

What moves us? How can impulse, sensation and image guide our relating in the moment? How about the sense of presence, coherence, dissonance or the sense of synchronicity? What do we desire to experience in our sensxuality in motion?

In our visual and language dominated surround, 'doing' seems most valued. In return this workshop offers you a space to slow down and to feel yourself. Performative awareness and psycho-sensual experiencing supports us in that process. We orient ourselves through guided meditative movements, touch, sense reflection and conjuring ‘timelessness’ and witnessing ourself and each other. Doing less, even doing nothing as a way to open subtle perception and entries into new visions and activities together. Just as we each are in this context, in flux, we can play with the constant dying and making of movements, relations, feelings, thoughts, forms and scenes.

This workshop offers a kind of galaxy guide for the self-guided dance traveller of all kinds, curious about slow cruising through the bumpy terrain of our sensable artlife. Diverse bodies/minds are welcome and essential. We will literally get close to each other.

Circulating touch  –  a Qi Gong based movement class for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities

Principles of the Chinese 5 element system are brought in relationship to somatic and improvisational approaches.
We will spend time exploring and trusting our individual way of ‘being’,  way of listening, way of expressing, and way making sense of the given exercises.

Exercises I like to offer like the Swimming Dragon, Energetic Organ Touch, Looking Mediation, Touching but not Touching and explorations in feeling oneself through embodied imagery are meant to cultivate individual movement intuition and activate the energetic qualities and sensations we each are innately drawn to.

These explorations can bring more awareness, skill, curiosity, and well-being to the experience of the various bodily, energetic, psychological, temporal, and situational realms we move in and out of in any given moment.
